FAQ: Inclement Weather and School Closings.
Severe or inclement weather may make it necessary for DCS to open late or be closed for an entire school day. We will utilize local media to broadcast our closings.
Information will be communicated to radio – WGST (640AM) and television – WSB (channel 2) & WXIA (channel 11). Please check for closings on one of those stations. DCS follows the Cobb County School System in regard to severe weather closings.
Who makes the decision to close school due to weather-related conditions?
The head of school or their designee(s) will determine if the school should be closed due to inclement weather. The administration will monitor weather alerts and advisories sent by local law enforcement and weather services regarding dangerous conditions. Utility outages, road, and parking lot conditions will also be considered.
