The exception is spring of their senior year, they are required to be enrolled in at least 4 subjects the semester of participation.
- Students must pass five classes each semester.
- Provide proof of completing a standardized test at the end of their 9th grade year.
- Be enrolled in a class at DCS if trying out for a high school team.
Regarding Class Enrollment
Our high school sports teams compete in the Georgia Independent Athletic Association (GIAA). One of the requirements of the GIAA is that all our Alternatively Educated Students (AES), also known as homeschool students, who participate in a high school sport must take at least one class with DCS during their semester of participation.
Each student will need to take an elective as their class of choice. That class will be during our 7th period class (1:45-2:30) and will take place right before the practice of the participating sport of choice. Students must complete the semester to get credit for the class and to be able to participate in sports the following year.
The cost of this class will be $700 per semester, or $1000 for both semesters. It is required that all AES students take this class in the semester (s) of sport participation if they want to compete on one of the DCS high school sports teams that participates in the GIAA.
Please review the AES approval process. If you would like to proceed with this process and are willing to meet the requirements, please complete the AES Athlete Application, along with your student. A $40 application fee will be collected at the end of the application.
