2010-2011 Academic Calendar Announced

We’d like to thank all of the parents who took their time to come to our “open forums” on the 2010/2011 Dominion Christian calendar. Each meeting provided unique perspectives and insightful input - All of which we really appreciated. Summarily, each parent agreed that the calendar we are currently on was sufficient and worked well for their family. During those meetings we indicated we’d like to get this finalized prior to Christmas Break. We’ve decided on next year’s calendar and wanted our current families to be the first to know so each of you can start planning now, if so desired. Below is the calendar for Dominion Christian Schools - 2010/2011.

Some brief explanation as to some of the important aspects of the calendar.

MS / Freshman Orientation ½ Day – Monday, August 16th 2010
First full day of School for both HS and MS – Tuesday, August 17th 2010.
All School Retreat / MS & HS @ Sharp Top Cove – Wednesday & Thursday, Sept. 8th & 9th 2010.
Fall Break (Coincides with last two days of Cobb County Schools break) – September 23rd & 24th 2010.
Spiritual Emphasis Week / MS & HS – October 26th -29th 2010.
Election Day / School Closed – Tuesday, November 2, 2010.
Veterans Day / MS & HS Special Chapel – Thursday, November 11th 2010.
Grandparents Day / MS & HS Special Chapel – Friday, November 19th 2010.
Celebrating Christ / MS & HS Evening Performance – Thursday, December 9th 2010.
MS Semester Unit Exams – Friday, Monday & ½ Day Tuesday, December 10th,13th 14th.

Semester Exams will be taken prior to the Christmas Break but the semester doesn’t end until January 14th 2011. (No work will be given out during the Christmas Break.) After returning from Christmas Break we are going to provide the opportunity for each student to enhance their educational experience by having two weeks of PACK – Problem solving, Application, Critical thinking and Knowledge.

First Day of School following Christmas Break – Monday, January 3rd 2011.
End of 2nd Quarter – Friday, January 14th 2011.
Martin Luther King Holiday – Monday, January 17th 2011.
Winter Break (Coincides with last two days of Cobb County Schools break) – February 24th & 25th 2011.
End of 3rd Quarter – Friday, March 18th 2011.
Teacher work day / Student Holiday - Monday, March 21st 2011.
Spring Break – April 4th – 8th 2011.
Good Friday / School Closed – Friday, April 22nd 2011.
Last Day for MS & MS Graduation – Tuesday, May 22nd 2011.
HS Semester Exams – May 23rd – May 26th 2011.
HS Graduation – Saturday, May 28th 2011.
