SEPTEMBER 21, MARIETTA, GA -- September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month! What you may not know is that we have a student at Dominion that is a cancer survivor, which means this is personal and important to us.
Nathan McLean is a Dominion seventh grader. At age three he was diagnosed with Stage 4 Neuroblastoma. He went through chemotherapy, two stem cell (bone marrow) transplants, radiation, and an immunotherapy clinical trial. He also had to deal with a brain infection in the middle of his treatment because of his compromised immune system.
Nathan is celebrating ten years of remission this fall! He is alive today because of God's grace and the research of doctors who have found treatments for this terrible disease.
In honor of Nathan and in support of childhood cancer awareness month, we are raising money for the Rally Foundation during the last week of September. Rally funds research for all types of childhood cancers and is based here in Atlanta. We need to find better, less toxic treatments for kids, like Nathan, who have to face this. That is Rally's goal and they need our help!
